Clough's Chance documents historical accounts of the children of Nathaniel and Susannah Clough, plantations owners, circa 1700, who made their home of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Clough's had three sons: John Clough, the eldest who settled in Caroline County, Maryland; Cheney Clow, certainly the most notorious at the time; and James Clow well known property owner in the Templeville, Maryland area. The son Cheney Clow, was hanged for murder in Dover, Delaware, after being acquitted of treason during the Revolutionary War. Actual court records of his and other family members' activities are reproduced within the text of this book. Clough's Chance was one of several parcels of land owned by James Clow in the early 1800's. The Authors borrowed the name for their book in tribute to all Clough/Clow family members.
